Scared Yet? Original Soundtrack

Date Released: 3/2/2008   Tracks: 20   Sales: 5   Listens: 4

Pool of Users recorded the soundtrack to the film "Scared Yet?" after seeing two of acclaimed German grindhouse director Dieter Von Scheißehaus' earlier films, "Sterben Sie Sie Soße-Spanferkel" (translation "Die You Gravy Sucking Pig") and "Die Schwesternschaft des Reisens Lederhosen" (The Sisterhood of the Travelling Lederhosen). The story of a passive aggressive ventriloquist grandmother and her demonic dummy (think Cocoon meets Magic), "Scared Yet?" is a movie the Pool was born to score.

Originally released in 1994 on Bellevue Records this classic album from The Cosmic Stoners has just been re-released by the band's current label Shadow Box Recordings. Given the deluxe reissue treatment it so richly deserves the album comes with a pair of boxers or briefs depending on which version you buy. Upon it's release in '94, the band explained the album's title as a metaphor for a new beginning, one the band clearly needed after a long world tour and a myriad of personnel changes.

A Nose for Trouble

Date Released: 8/4/2009   Tracks: 12   Sales: 9   Listens: 19

When Pusher decided to rent a house in Laurel Canyon to record their next album, the idea was that they would be inspired in much the same way the Red Hot Chili Peppers were when they recorded their blockbuster album "Blood Sugar Sex Magic". Unfortunately, they didn't have enough money to rent a house, so they rented a mobile home instead and parked it illegally on a street in Glendale, CA. Recorded on a 4-track, A Nose for Trouble is a bacchanalian orgy of musical and personal excess. Enjoy!

The Stoners fifth studio release, STONEDHENGE captures the band trying to combine punk with it's musical antithesis, arena rock! Ragged and loud these songs chug along on adrenaline, sweat and a thick cloud of Mary Jane. Inspired by the band's visit to Stonehenge during a UK tour, the album was a direct reflection of their mutual love for bands like Led Zeppelin and the Buzzcocks. So in classic Stoner fashion they mixed it all up, packed it in a bowl and smoked it up!

Faux Pocket & Grover *Neckbone* Clifton "Busking"

Date Released: 11/15/2011   Tracks: 11   Sales: 8   Listens: 11

In January of 2011, Dax Burnley (aka Faux Pocket) began writing some new songs inspired by legendary blues guitarist Grover *Neckbone* Clifton. Burnley, who like Clifton had been discovered busking on the streets, thought the acoustic blues and folk songs he'd written would be ideal to record with Neckbone. He approached Clifton's managers to see if there was any interest, but did not receive an answer. One day in late March, while recording demos in his London flat, Burnley was interrupted by a knock on the door. When he opened it there stood Neckbone with a small valise, a bottle of scotch and his guitar. The two musicians immediately set to work on the songs Burnley had written, and co-wrote two new songs, "Dragged Through The Mud (With You)" and "You're Gonna Regret Leaving Me". After woodshedding them in Burnley's flat they decided to test them on the streets of London, busking on street corners, in the Tube, and anywhere else they could gather a crowd. While some of these impromptu busks gathered crowds who recognized the two musicians, most did not, and it was with this anonymity that they were able to tighten and hone the set of songs that would eventually make the record. The recording sessions took place in July at Sound By The Pound Studios in London, and eschewing the studio tricks of his first album, Burnley insisted that he and Clifton record together live in the studio with minimal overdubs in an effort to capture the impromptu vibe of their busking gigs. One song in particular, "Street Scene" was actually recorded on the corner of Gresham and Brixton Road in Brixton, a mere block from the O2 Brixton Academy that Burnley had headlined on his first tour. If you like what you hear drop a few quid in the tambourine. © 2011 Shadow Box Recordings Produced by: Trip Jones All Songs written by Dax Burnley except + written by Dax Burnley & Grover *Neckbone* Clifton Cover Design: Dax Burnley

Total Eclipse Of The Mind

Date Released: 11/30/2011   Tracks: 14   Sales: 12   Listens: 17

Originally released in 1985 on Bellevue Records, Total Eclipse Of The Mind was the third in a string of six albums released by the band that were designed to take the listener through a person's gradual descent into madness. Hailed by some as a true musical exploration of mental illness, the albums were also attacked by many in the medical community as a crass exploitation of the mentally ill. Hardcore fans of the band often refer to these albums as the "Matters of the Mind Hexalogy." A double album, Total Eclipse saw the band reach deep into their bag of musical influences, tackling everything from Rockabilly to Metal, New Age Jazz, Funk and Country. While the album's eclectic nature led some critics to deem it "rambling" and "muddled", fans disagreed and made it one of the band's best selling albums to date. In turn the Stoners treated them to a gargantuan world tour that not only featured a giant on-stage revolving brain prop that gradually "eclipsed" as the concert progressed, but also dancers dressed as neurons that shot nerve impulses (streamers) around venues. When asked about the album at the time of it's original release Phil Graspman described it as "a spiritual and psycho-sexual trip through the gradual deterioration of my grey and white matter." Followers of the band attributed it more to his rapidly expanding usage of mind-altering substances. Whatever the inspiration (or cause), Total Eclipse is a masterful mix of the ridiculous and sublime, and clearly mirrors the real life struggles Graspman has faced with his own mental health. Digitally remastered and re-released on vinyl, disc and as a digital download Total Eclipse Of The Mind is indulgent, wacky and completely unique. In other words, it's a quintessential Cosmic Stoners album. © 1985 Bellevue Records/© 2011 Shadow Box Recordings

Black Forest Hymns is the second major label release by German Goth Metal band ZV. Recorded in Freiburg in the Black Forest region of Germany, Black Forest Hymns is a collection of songs based on local legends and ancient lore. It's a dark collection of songs filled with witches, dwarves and the natural world. It's equal parts crushing gothic doom metal and rhythmic prog rock, and is just ZV's latest contribution to the book of metal. © 2012 Teutonic Shield Records Distributed by Shadow Box Recordings Produced by: Joachim Stern & Guntram Saenger Engineered by: Rudy Engel
