Band Bio

Not much is known about the mysterious Djent/industrial/progressive metal, or as they call it, "Sensory-Industrial Cyber-Prog" duo Sinthetic. Their date formed, true names, and country of origin are all unknown, although rumors point to origins in the Czech Republic.

Fallen was lucky enough to get a hold of them during a "chance encounter" with their original material. While X was listening to the radio in his office, the station suddenly changed without warning and started playing one of Sinthetic's demos. X needed to know what strange music he was hearing, and his email answered him a day later with the message "Like what you hear?" and a link to Sinthetic's "website". Without going into detail, they were signed.

Sinthetic's breed of industrial metal is an evolution. Vocals are a rarity, and are spoken in various languages. When they do pop up they're always heavily affected and/or filtered, and serve as additional instrumentation rather than the driving melody, as Sinthetic allows their dark haze of sound speak for them. Songs follow complex time signatures and structures. 7-stringed guitars in extreme tunings are gated and compressed into djenty tones that no longer resemble stringed instruments. Drums are played with mechanical precision, and are mixed heavily so the listener can feel every single bass hit. Layered over this are waves of processed synths and keys that weave around one another in a precisely choreographed supremacy dance. Uncommon scales are used to unlock portions of the mind once dormant, and it's all played with frightening precision.

Sinthetic consists of only two members, neither of whom say or show very much.

Lilith is the mistress of instrumentation. She is responsible for the guitars, bass, and drums. No one knows where she got her musical education, but one thing is for sure: Lilith has a death grip on time signatures and rhythms. She's also known for a nasty pinch-harmonic resembling a woman's scream. She is the primary riff writer and coordinator.
[Gear: All of Lilith's guitars, basses, and drum kits are custom built and designed by her, and are fitted with Ibanez low-end strings and fed through Line 6 amps].

N.E.O.S. is responsible for the programming, mixing, and keyboards in the sound. He is more at home around machines and computers than humans, probably because he can get computers to do whatever he wills musically with cold precision. He supplies whatever spoken-word vocals appear in the songs, when they do.
[Gear: All of N.E.O.S.' programs are coded by him, and are thus unknown, but he uses patches by Korg. He also uses a customized Apple MacBook Pro computer.]

Some find it hard to believe the band is human. Both Lilith and N.E.O.S. speak to each other in English with eastern European accents (When they speak at all. Often times they communicate with subtle nods or hand signals). Both have only been seen wearing identical black leather trench coats with dark sunglasses and black hair, with N.E.O.S.' being slicked back and Lilith's being in a perfectly angled futuristic bob cut. During the band's earliest days, Lilith once had her hair dyed neon cyan. Maybe it was too conspicuous.

INFLUENCES: Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Bulb (Early Periphery), Paul Wardingham, Sybreed, Xerath, Dysmorphica, The Forgotten Falling, various sci-fi film/game scores.

MEMBERS:

Lilith- Guitars, Bass, Drums/percussion

Binary Empire

Date Released: 3/21/2012   Tracks: 11
Sales: 16   Listens: 27

Domain of the Binary Empire fades in with synth pads and glitchy effects. Volume steadily increases, until... ACTIVATE Lilith's seven-string, polyrhythmic, djent-chugging locks down with similarly syncopated drums loaded with presence and bass. After N.E.O.S.' keyboard blips join in, and after the duo has assaulted the listener for 33 seconds, N.E.O.S. robotically and coldly declares: WE ARE IN CONTROL Welcome to Binary Empire, Sinthetic's third album. Here the cyber-metal duo attempts to vary their sonic palette, utilizing more clean guitars and melody than before, in addition to the sonic djent assault listeners are familiar with. "Binary Empire is intended to musically represent the two sides of technology: The side that helps us, and the side that is destroys us. We are using these smooth synths and clean guitars to represent the cold beauty of the artificial" says Lilith. While the sound is varied, the atmosphere is constant. Frontline Supremacy is a frightening exercise in chugging and shock-and-awe riffing, Cybersensual has a cold, refreshing beauty and smooth guitar work, and Elysium Walk closes the album with a finale of soaring leads over epic synths, calling to mind golden fields of a somewhat somber utopia. Catch Sinthetic on the Decibel Destruction tour 2012, opening for Dysmorphica! _____________ Recorded, mixed, and mastered by N.E.O.S. Antares Rising

Date Released: 10/4/2011   Tracks: 11
Sales: 15   Listens: 26

Apparently, Sinthetic doesn't believe their debut set a good enough impression on the metal world. Lilith attacks music like a dominatrix, using jazzy 7th chords and mach-speed shredding (see the 32nd-note tapping riff driving "Binarygenesis") over her polyrhythmic drumming. N.E.O.S. weaves textured layers of synths over the heavy metal assault to create a spacy atmosphere that melds with the human subconscious. Sinthetic uses a more varied array of patches on "Antares Rising" than before. Lilith utilizes clean channels to create new age/spacy sounding finger picking patterns to further texture the already hypnotic soundscape, whilst N.E.O.S. mixes the album sharp and clear for heavy bass and killer djent-tone. From the crushing chug of "Forge of Annihilation", through the harrowing "Waking to a Silent Scream", and concluding with the 11-minute, ground-breaking "Terminus", "Antares Rising" is a unique progressive metal masterwork. _________________________________________________ Recorded and produced by Sinthetic Mixed and mastered by N.E.O.S. I Am War-Machine [Single]

Date Released: 2/13/2011   Tracks: 3
Sales: 13   Listens: 20

The final track on Sinthetic's successful debut, "I Am War-Machine" is as brutal and unrelenting as its namesake. Poly-rhythmic drums blast like artillery, the guitars scream and chug relentlessly, and the keys provide tense dissonant chords and a cinematic backing score. The climax is when N.E.O.S. declares "I am War-Machine!" through a robotic filter before a 5/2 doom chug closes out the song. The unnerving atmospheric remix is courtesy of Kemia, while the Bushido remix adds Asian flavor.

NEUROSTASIS

Date Released: 2/3/2011   Tracks: 11
Sales: 19   Listens: 53

On their debut LP, Sinthetic rips with unnatural experience. This is headphone music, as Lilith and N.E.O.S. weave head-trips with poly-rhythmic "djent" guitars, glitchy robotic vocals, and spacy, cyberpunk synths. From the spaced-out trip of Supernatural Weave to Lilith bringing her deadly guitar skills to the forefront on Venom Lace, and all the way to the shock-and-awe riffage of I Am War-Machine, NEUROSTASIS pushes the boundaries of not only progressive metal, but music as a whole.
