Band Bio
In 2006, both Paul Young and Steve Mackay worked in the Clinton, Massachusetts IT department. Steve had been playing in the Clinton Community Orchestra for about three years, and having learned of Paul's enjoyment of band classes in high school, invited him to join in. After a couple of years, they decided to form a band and see just where it took them. Along with Mark Rogan and Steve Larkin, they began practicing at Mackay's house on the nights after orchestra practice, simply playing whatever came to mind. Things took a decidedly punk-flavored turn after a few weeks when Rogan began playing the bass line from The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' song "The Impression That I Get." The rest of the group joined in, and they realized that this was the sound that worked for them.
Spending some time on original tunes took a while, but after some writing and practice sessions, they came up with about twenty songs, and by the summer of 2009, they were ready to take it on the road. Deciding on the name "Fitchburg Subdivision" (after the railroad line that runs through Clinton), they played all over central Massachusetts.
After producing their own independent album and a year of playing many shows across New England, Fitchburg Subdivision scored their first radio hit with "Digging Her Nails In," which received airplay on rock stations across the country. After being courted by several labels, they signed on with Profound Nothingness Records.
The band will soon release its first album on the label, "The Virtue of Fools."

Radio singles: 5/18/10 - Everything I Said 6/8/10 - Stand and Be Recognized 6/29/10 - Most Lies About Blondes Are False 7/20/10 - Where The Hell Is Australia, Anyway? 8/10/10 - Better Make It Six |
