Band Bio
Old Republic was founded with one goal. To create the Loudest, Craziest, Heaviest, Most Scare your parents Thrash sound that has ever been heard. The creation of Texas Bassist/Vocalist Anton Vukasin, A drifting musician, ready to destroy humanity. He bought a van and drove off wherever the road would take him. When his engine died in the middle of nowhere, he stopped at a bar for a drink and some music. That is where he first saw Italian guitar prodigy Nico Veneto and Drummer Nathan Jacobs. Nico was throwing out some heavy rifts and Nathan was laying a beat, while some loser singer tried to scream and this terrible bassist had just given up. Anton, without a word, walked up onto the stage and punched both the singer and the bassist. After the crowd went silent and the two men ran off the stage, Anton picked up the bass and walked to the microphone, then started shredding on the bass in a way no one there had ever seen. Nico and Nathan started to improv with him, and the band was formed. Shortly after that they remember that the Anton's van was broken and the other singer had stolen Nico and Nathan's truck. A guy ran out of the bar and told them he could fix their van, if, he could try out as a rhythm guitarist. They hesitantly agreed, and Nico handed him a guitar and they walked over to an external outlet. This guy then proceeded to play for about a half hour before finally asking, whether he was in. Anton looked at Nathan, nodded. They asked for his name and he said it was Archer Hallestrøm, and he had just moved from Sweden. Anton smiled and welcomed him to Old Republic. No one argued with the new member or the sudden band name. They drove back to Austin, Texas where Anton lived, and tried to set up a base of operations. After being kicked out of six houses when the neighbors complained about the noise (whimps), they found there home above a record store. With a home of their own they are ready to take over the world!
Influences- Annihilator, Lamb of God, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Nevermore, Megadeth
Bio's:
Anton Vukasin: By day, he was your average guy. Average grades in school, clothes that didn't stand out, quiet and kept to himself. By night, it was a whole different story. He'd pick up a bass, or occasionally a guitar, walk up a microphone, & thrash the night away. He's finger bassist, with highly technical playing, utilizing guitar techniques such as tapping and incredible speeds. He is the main song writer of Old Republic. Influences: Cliff Burton, Steve DiGiorgio, Glenn Hughes.
Gear:Jackson KBX Custom 5 string bass, Blackstar Amps, Boss Pedals, Dunlop Crybaby Wah, Shure SM-57
Nico Veneto: Italian-American, born in Rome, but moved to America when he was 8. At around 14 he saw his first metal concert, an Annihilator show, & decided right then that he wanted to be a heavy metal guitarist. He dedicated his life to the art, practicing for around 14 hours a day, perfecting skills such as sweep picking, tapping, hybrid picking, alternate picking, and so one, becoming a true shredder. Influences: Jeff Waters, Dimebag Darrell, Jeff Loomis.
Gear: Bernie Rico Jr. Jeckyll 7 Sting, Marshall Amps, Blackstar Pedals, Vox Wah Pedal
Archer Hallestrøm: Swedish immigrant, moved to America 2 months before joining Old Republic. Before moving to America, he was a relatively well known guitarist in the Swedish underground, honing his style playing mixes of Melodic Death Metal, Power Metal, & Thrash Metal. He became famous for his super precise picking, never deviate by more than a few milliseconds between rifts. He moved to America to try & make a name for himself in the American Metal scene, and ended up falling in with Old Republic. He is the secondary song writer for the band. Influences:Jon Schaffer, James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine.
Gear: Caparison Dellinger 7 FX, Peavy Amps, Dunlop Wah pedal
Nathan Jacobs: The Florida Wildman. Grew up in a family of musicians, Father was a symphony violist, Mother played cello, brother played piano. Nathan was always a bit too crazy for the classical music that most of his family adored, so he would hang out with his sister and listen to her music, which ranged from Jazz fusion to Heavy Metal. After listening to Slayer's first CD, he decided to buy a drum kit. He is completely self-taught, getting a job at a production company where he perfected his skills by watching the bands that came through. Influences:Dave Lombardo, Mario Duplantier, Chris Adler. Hobbies:Being insane.

Some tracks like "Necrotizing Fasciitis" are as thrash as you can get, with blistering guitar, bass, and even a few drum solos bombarding your senses, while others like the 10 minute epic "The Skeleton Plays the Violin" venture into the experimental realms with shifting, unconventional time schemes and musicianship, but always carrying that undeniable Old Republic touch.
