Band Bio
Tucker Jackson is the newest artist signed to RA Records, who also happens to be the very first country artist to sign with the label. RA Records is the home of such acts as Goth Techno songstress, Lady Annabel and Black Metal masters, The Dark Brotherhood. So, needless to say, Tucker Jackson sticks out like a sore thumb among the artists at RA. And that's exactly what makes him so special.
Tucker was born and raised in Austin, TX. He grew up on the family farm and learned the value of an honest day's work from a young age. "From about the time I could walk, I would be out in barn helpin' my daddy in any way I could. Milkin' cows, gettin' eggs. It's just the way you're raised, ya know?", says Jackson. Of course, life on the farm had its fair share of music, as well. Tucker grew up listening to classic country stars like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. By the time he was eight, Tucker was learning to play guitar from his father. "Me and my dad would sit out on the porch after supper. He'd have his old beat up guitar and I'd have my little kiddy guitar and I'd just try and play along to whatever he was playin', by ear. I never even knew the difference between the songs I was playin'. I just loved to play", says Jackson.
By the time Tucker was in high school, he started getting turned on to new styles of country music that he hadn't heard before. "I had friends that turned me onto the music their parents listened to, like Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 Special. Then I started hearin' people like Brooks and Dunn and Trace Adkins. It gave me a whole new perspective on music," says Jackson. By the time Tucker was 18, he was penning his own songs and writing his own music, inspired by cross-over country artists like Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney. "One of the greatest things about country music is just writing what you know," says Jackson, "you just write about the things around you and everybody gets it, ya know?"
Though mainly a country fan, Tucker's musical tastes began to branch out and he discovered Eccentric Arcade, which would eventually be the key to his first record deal. "I started to like some hip-hop stuff and I got into some more rock stuff. A friend of mine turned me onto Eccentric Arcade and I really like what those guys are doin'. It's different, but it's good," says Jackson, "I had heard that they had a record label, so I thought 'what the hell?' and I sent in a demo. Honestly, I never thought I'd ever hear anything back about it, but about two months later I got a call sayin' they wanted to set up a meeting."
And the rest has yet to be written...

Modern Day Cowboy
Date Released: 4/24/2012
Tracks: 10 It's been two years since Tucker Jackson made his debut on RA Records with "Dirt Farmer", and he's ready to kick up some dust with his sophomore release "Modern Day Cowboy". Tucker Jackson has been busy these past two years, but he hasn't been living the glamorous life of a country superstar, touring the country and playing to sold out arenas. He's been busy writing songs for his latest album, and working on the family farm, which he inherited last year. Country singers live life just a little bit differently. While most musicians live for the open road and the roar of the crowd, country folk live for the open field and the roar of the tractor. Just because Tucker writes and records music doesn't mean that he's forgotten the value of a hard day's work. He grew up on the family farm in Austin, Texas, where he learned to work before he learned to rock. Farming by day, playing by night; he IS a modern day cowboy. Tucker brings that rough and rugged country feel that we all loved on "Dirt Farmer" back for "Modern Day Cowboy", and then some. This album is rougher, tougher, and grittier than "Dirt Farmer", with boot stompin' anthems like "Kickin' Up Dust" and the surefire southern hit "Beer for the Week, Whiskey for the Weekend". Tucker channels other country superstars like Eric Church and Brantley Gilbert on this album, giving all the songs just the right amount of a rough edge that really makes you hear the sweat and the dirt that went into these songs. Though, not every song is meant to be blared by the bonfire; some are meant to be played softly by candlelight. Songs like "That's When I Knew We'd Say 'I Do'", and "In Love is a Long, Long Way to Fall" will tug on your heartstrings just as much as some of the other songs will move your feet. So, if you've got sweat on your back, callouses on your hands, and dust on your face...you may be a modern day cowboy, too. And this is your soundtrack. |

Dirt Farmer
Date Released: 4/6/2010
Tracks: 10 At the tender age of 24, Tucker Jackson already has plenty to sing about. Because like any good country singer, he sings about what he knows. His everyday life serves as the inspiration behind every track on his debut album, "Dirt Farmer". Songs of reminiscence like "My First" and "That Old Tire Swing". Songs of love like "God Answered My Prayers (When I Met You)". Even just plain old fun songs like "Four Basic Food Groups" and "Front Porch Friday Night". This album is an everyman's diary. |
