Band Bio

Formed in the wake of getting fired from their part time job working at a chain grocery store in 2008, Emily Hutton, Amber Wallace, Juliet Capulet (no relation to Shakespeare play), Monica Johnson and Helena Davis (rummored to be famed korn front man Johnathan Davis's cousin) decided to turn their part time band a full time gig.

With nothing but a van, an impromptu recording studio in Amber's basement, pawn shop instruments and a pirated recording software, The Damaged recorded two songs ("bleeding roses" "soulless wonderland") that they posted on their myspace page.

During a late night gig at The Castle, the girls were surprised to learn that a representative from Psycho Records was there to scout new talent. They played their hearts out and won over the crowd and the rep. They were signed a week later to an unheard of $900 million contract.

The Damaged recorded they're first self titled album in spring 2009. Upon its release, it was met with rave reviews. Topping the charts in not only the US but in the UK and all over Europe as well, The Damaged had gained fame and fortune in such a short time. But many people wondered if this band would just be another one hit wonder.

In early summer of 2009, the US tour began in their home state of Florida. From there they traveled all over the country. The ladies were having the time of their lives. They were even quoted in The Rolling Stone as saying "Touring, to us, has become like summer camp. Every day there is something new to explore and you get to share it with your best friend"

Touring, however, was put to a halt when their beloved bass player, Monica Johnson, was rushed to the ER after collapsing on stage. For hours, Emily, Helena, Amber and Juliet waited as their dear friend was waited on by doctors. After 6 hours, Monica was released from the ER. The cause of her collapse was cancer in its advanced stage. Monica has battled cancer before and had beat it in 2007. This time, however, was uncertain. The tour would continue with a sub bass player. Monica was sent home to recover for the rest of the tour and to seek treatment.

In winter of 2009, the tour finished and the ladies returned home, wondering if they should continue with their career without Monica. This devastated everyone involved with the band. Juliet wrote on her blog "With Monica's battle with cancer, it would impossible for her to play or tour again. We don't know if we can continue without her".

Saddly, on Christmas 2009, Monica Johnson died in her home from the very cancer that she swore she would beat in a fall 2009 blog.

"I've beat it once. I can beat it again. You will see me on stage again in no time"

A funeral was held for her New Year's day in 2010.

No word as to whether of not The Damaged will continue on. But a recent blog from Helena shows some hope of the band coming together.

"We are deeply sadden by the loss of our best friend Monica. We appreciate the support of our family, friends and the fans. We all will miss Monica.
As far the future of The Damaged, we are currently in discussions with our record label. Nothing has been confirmed yet but we will continue to keep you all updated as if becomes available"
