Fallen Records is a major independent record label that deals with mostly hardcore bands. Every one of their bands has shredding, blast beats, and that good stuff. except for Beijing Bling, but he was so awesome that Fallen Records just had to sign him.
That's the company definition, anyway. Greetings, I am X; president of this company. I'll tell you how it all started.
So, okay. I just failed out of business school because I was too busy writing demos to do homework (Or because I wear a trashbag on my head at all times), but I was gonna start a record label one way or another. When cleaning out my dorm, I found some plane tickets for a trip to Russia I had won a ways back.
Time to go to Russia.
I arrived in some remote town in the middle of the coldest possible place on the damn planet. I was walking through a blizzard in the snow trying to find a DIFFERENT remote town that had a hotel. Then, I saw him. He was pale as death, with about ten total piercings in both lips. His coat was billowing in the wind all cinematic-like. We were both in the other's way.
"Do you speak English?" I asked.
"Yessss" the dude said slowly.
I was about to ask him where a hotel was, when I saw smoke in the distance. Don't tell me...
"What's that?" I asked.
"It WAS a church," he said snidely, "I burned it down."
"What the hell dude!?"
He shrugged, "There were only two people inside; I thought it would be fun."
I just realized, I had stumbled upon the next Marylin Manson... possibly.
"Do you play an instrument?" I asked.
"... I sing in a band," he said, "Why?"
"I'm a record producer," I said, "Is your band signed?"
".....No."
That was it; the day I met Dmitri Oskolov. A month later I was recording Whispers to the Fallen in my garage in New Hampshire. All I had was a freaking tape recorder, but it had to do.
Remarkably, Whispers to the Fallen played a Tokyo tour (Tour meaning us just playing random parks and bars) and the locals loved it. Between Dmitri's accent and English's second-language status, it must have been impossible for them to comprehend the lyrics, but they still always flocked to that random band on the sidewalk anyway. Soon, I made enough money to buy a legit studio.
Ten years later. Fallen Records is a well-known, well-respected, multinational, record label for goth and metal... and Chinese rap. Pretty sweet, huh?
I've been all over the world and met all kinds of people. I discovered all those bands up there, and offered them deals. I merged Sanguine Symphony and Whispers to the Fallen to form the almighty Forgotten Falling. I watched Angelica split and start Dying Unholy. When Beijing Bling went to Doctor Pepper rehab, I paid the bills. This was so worth it.
