Band Bio
This "supergroup" needn't worry about a clash of egos: the band is made up entirely of former background, woodwork-type members of other bands. Comprising SB are "Shlocky E" McMahon on loud, overmodulated lead vocals, Saul Shaffer laying down semi-homoerotic keyboards, Don Madden wailing away with drums and incongruous sound effects, Ribbon, the Boy Asunder, the young, masked guitarist given to wet-behind-the-ears overreactions to nearly everything, and Maimie Umidon, playing something that somewhat resembles a combination tamborine and lemon peeler, several models of which she attempts to peddle to the bewildered audience following each performance for three easy payments of $19.95 plus shipping and handling. While the band members make good on the old adage that number twos, in fact, must try harder, the lure of coveted solo ventures (and product endorsements) threatens to rob the group of all its charter members by the completion of their maiden album. But for now, at least, this motley collection of has-beens and likely-never-will-bes goes to show that sometimes, the whole can be much, MUCH greater than the sum of its parts.

Date Released: 10/27/2009
Tracks: 14 The very first (and likely last) album released by the original members of SB features many trippy, esoteric, and downright strange alternative tracks, each band member offering multiple musings set to infectious, irresistible beats. The group's penchant for generally not wishing to offend while shamelessly weaving product placement into its lyrics shine through admirably here, yet not so brightly as to outshine any efforts by those whom the band members once stood politely behind. |
