BSE Enter Studio To Record Second Album

InsideStonerRock.com - Word on the street is thrashers Blackened Skull Ensemble have entered the studio to work on the follow-up to their 'War Crest' debut. BSE are currently scheduled to support Supercrusher on their Impact Zone Tour beginning in February 2010. Expect BSE's new album to be released prior.

BSE Open MOM II Pit Stage

New Orleans - Some early drizzle gave way to the sun and LBR band Blackened Skull Ensemble started the proceedings at Merchants Of Metal II, opening The Pit Stage. BSE tore through 8 tracks off their 'War Crest' debut, plus a cover of Metallica's "Disposable Heroes".

Blackened Skull Ensemble once again mine classic 80's thrash for inspiration on their latest 'At Dawn We Slaughtered'. The title track kicks things off with a homage to Metallica's "One", featuring a recording of a WWI heavy artillery barrage which segues into a clean guitar riff. But, rather than slavishly imitate the classics of the past, BSE take the key elements [high speed chugging, double bass-driven beats, intricate solos] and update with modern metal flourishes. Another strong effort.

Featuring breakneck thrash tempos and military-themed imagery, BSE hark back to the late '80s heyday of the Big Four. Highlights include the galloping opener/title track "War Crest", the punishing "Vernichtungskrieg", and the homage to Metallica's "One", "Angels Of Valhalla". An auspicious debut.
