Lords Of Winter
Invaders come from the North, bringing fire and steel....Genre Fantasy Metal Band Created 6/2/2009 Fan Base 15 Total Sales 33
Hailing from Sweden, Lords Of Winter burst onto the metal scene with the first insallment of their Carus Saga 'Journey To Roh'Orn' gathering numerous accolades and awards, along with a legion of fans. The subsequent chapters, 'Lost Legion Of The Tundra' and 'Heart Of The Mountain' only further strengthened their position among the leading bands of the epic/fantasy metal genre.
Compared to the epic stories they weave on their albums, the story of the band's genesis is fairly unexciting. The four members grew up in the same small town in Sweden, where they began their musical explorations in middle school, inspired by a shared love of British and American heavy metal and Norse mythology. Originally performing under the name Mjolnir [until they learned of the German black metal band of the same name], they slowly grew a local following. The band consciously avoided the prevailing stereotypes regarding the Scandinavian metal scene, though this left them somewhat adrift as to their direction. It was when vocalist Ragnar Gunnarsmithsson came up with the Carus concept, they found their inspiration and Lords Of Winter were properly born.
Lords Of Winter were signed to powerhouse metal label Long Bong Records in early 2009, and their debut was released that summer.

LBR - Lords Of Winter are in the studio, putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to their award-winning Carus trilogy. Their fourth disc, to be entitled 'Age Of Sagas' will not continue the beloved Carus storyline [though band members note this does not mean we've heard the last from him], but will be similarly epic in scope. Expectations are for a late June/early July release.
