Genre Sea Chanteys       Band Created 3/23/2009       Total Sales 40

Band Bio

The marriage of punk and sea chanteys might not be an obvious one, but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Plying the high seas in search of adventure has a tendency to lure those with anarchic lifestyles and much the way Irish folk music flows easily into punk motifs, so does the wonderfully bawdy genre of sea chanteys.

This all being said, welcome to the mad cap world of Secret Scurrility.
Being scurrilous is to be vulgar and even a little evil. These boys are both, and they really don't keep it much of a secret. The music is loud and raucous. The cacophony of sound they produce is a mixture of traditional sea chanteys (all punked up) and original takes on the sea farers life.

The boys were brought together on a cross atlantic voyage aboard the last galleon in service. In the back room of "the Rusty Scupper" (a small tavern on the Cornish coast) they made a blood pact to bring mayhem to the masses through the medium of music.

Secret Scurrility is fronted by D. T. Shakes, a diminutive one legged mariner who hops and hollers around the stage like a banshee on mescalin.
Pierre Luc la Ponterveax provides the angst on guitar and overdriven, over effected mandolin. "Jolly" Roger Morgan adds penny whistle and accordian, while Jack "the Moth" Robbins and "Left Hand" Lou comprise the rhythm section on bass and drums respectively.

Having recently been signed to Uncle Duff Records, Secret Scurrility is planning a tour of port towns and watering holes throughout the world to promote the release of their debut disc "The Dread Pirate Roberts".
Look for a show near you!
