LN&SWD pulled together some of their varied influences from music (Rodgers & Hammerstein, The Doors) and literature (Aldous Huxley, Dr. Seuss) for their fourth full-length album. To give the lyrics a surreal quality, on some tracks they used the "cut-up" technique popularized by William S. Burroughs: taking the finished lyrics, cutting them into pieces, then rearranging the pieces. A few outraged Doors fans bought the album just to burn it.
Meh. A sale's a sale.

JoshTheRadioDude"Thanks everyone for all the positive reviews! @TMTYTF: I used Picasso's "Women Running on the Beach" as the base image. I used Photoshop Elements to do all the manipulation. Even though I'm not very good at Photoshop I was fairly pleased with the result. I've never used GIMP (free download), but I imagine it could produce the same effects."

theHoseman"So much brilliance was influenced by the pen of Blake...and that is the wellspring of the brilliance contained in this re-issue! And utilizing Ol' Bill's cut up technique is the perfect vehicle for this exploration of word and sound, from Geisel to Morrison and all points in between.
As Aldous himself wrote - "Chronic remorse, as all the moralists are agreed, is a most undesirable sentiment."

For the past few months we've been treated to a Let's Not and Say We Did reissue party the likes we've never seen, and we're thrilled that "Out of the Picture" is now available because it may well be one of the most interesting projects LNASWD ever embarked upon. By using the cut-up technique they put a new spin on classic songs as well as pieces of literature. These aren't cover songs they're new interpretations, & works of art in their own right. "
