On their self-titled third effort, Blackened Skull Ensemble recapture the fierce energy of their 'War Crest' debut. Charging right out of the gate with the full-bore thrash of "Crusader", BSE grab the listener by the throat and do not relent until the final backwards-recorded vocals and manipulated feedback of "666 Cycle Hum" fade out. In between, BSE tackle themes of conflict, technology and death, paired with blistering thrash that harkens back to the heyday of the genre.
