babel by Zeroth
Date Released 10/11/2010 Sales 7 Listens 10
Inspired by the many cultures experienced during their Tachyon World Tour, Zeroth's latest effort 'babel' [sic] is an instrumental concept piece following the rise and fall of the biblical Tower of Babel. Recorded live during soundchecks in several cities, the centerpiece is the "Etemenanki Suite". Spanning nearly 25 minutes, this epic shifts from militaristic percussion ["Brick Upon Brick"] to soaring, ethereal guitar ["To Scrape The Heavens"] and punishing extreme metal ["His Will Be Done"].

"I haven't been exactly pulled in by any of Zeroth's past releases, as I am not the biggest metal head and a lot of their music seems like too much to process. But I had to pick up "babel" and give it a chance. The story of the Tower of Babel is one of the most intriguing and thought provoking stories in the bible. I'm not a huge fan of abnormally lengthly music or instrumentals, so "babel" may require a few spins before I fully appreciate it, but I'm very intrigued by the concept. "
