Live by Zeroth

Date Released 5/23/2009       Sales 7       Listens 8

Welcome to the controlled madness that is Zeroth in concert. Recorded during their Infinite Spiral Tour, their double-CD 'Live' showcases Zeroth at their mind-boggling best. They alternately deliver precise renditions of their studio tracks, and then morph songs into the metal equivalent of extended jam band explorations. A must-buy for the fans of the math-metal titans, and a preview of what's in-store when Zeroth headline the Merchants of Metal Festival.

"From the moment you press play, you know you're in for something strange-just as soon as the dark spoken word opening the album becomes the framework for a screaming 5/8 jam, your mind's blown. The maddening rhythms and dark lyrics of track 5 soon give way to the futuristic drone apocalypse that is 4761, which soon gives way to a seething guitar jam. Zeroth pay tribute to their jam band roots with a rough, chaotic Dead cover, which shifts via 2/8 drum solo to reworked Obelisk songs. 4&1/2 stars!"

"I caught this tour when it came through town. This Live album captures the intensity and muscicianship perfectly! Can't wait to see the Merchants of Metal!
I declare, "K" is the craziest drummer I have ever laid ears on! I knew it before but after seeing him play live...He IS the best of the best."

"InsideStonerRock.com - Opening with a loop of Robert Oppenheimer quoting “I am become Death, destroyer of worlds” sets the tone for a 2+ hour detonation of musical paradigms aka Zeroth’s live show. Zeroth undermine any criticism they must merely be a studio band. For the converted, this album will simply reinforce what they already know: Zeroth is the best at what they do, as there's really no one else doing what they do at this level. For the previously uninitiated, welcome to enlightenment."
