"All of this album should not be played repeatedly while drunk. Take it from me."

JohnnyEcho

"After the unfairly maligned self-titled foray into grindcore and drone, they are back to their Norwegian blackened-thrash roots. Though not as creatively earshattering as classics like "Cry Out for Vecna" or "Raze Them to the Ground", there is a renewed vitality and even a sly wit in songs like "Drink Till You're Blind" and "Hallowed Depths of Combat". The Nordic chanting and guttural shrieks and moans in the opening track makes you fear for yr. life, the live songs rock, & Gothzilla start here."

"What the f*ck was that!? Now thats kickin' Butt"

""Anal Trophallaxis" was hailed as a comeback upon it's release. Rife with dissension after the lackluster sales of their 2nd album, the band hit the studio and channeled their fury into a black metal classic. Given the deluxe reissue treatment by their original label Hex-Apoda, fans will rejoice to hear the remastered versions of cuts like "Dusk Comes Before Nightfall in Perpetuity" and "Into the Fjords of Deception". The bonus live cut of "Feast on the Bowels of My Enemies" is tasty! Buy it!"

"Was the album title intended for their critics or themselves? "Kick the Tyr [the Norse god of single combat] and Light the Pyre" obviously refers to their coming solo careers, but "Permafrost Lava" speaks to conflicted emotions. This angkst explains the album's sugary sentimental tunes like "Blood-Drenched Savagery." Nevertheless, Darkling fans will still want to "raise their butts in the air like they just don't care" and ask ""Can't we get second helpings after Anal Trophallaxis?""
