"When my friend raved about this album I was afraid I would get my hopes up too high - not possible! A classic of the genre. Sinners of the World Unite indeed!"

gmlumpp

"If you're into GothZilla, you definitely need to check out this gem from their dim, dark, ever-so-dark, past."

javdoc

"My friend Danae has that beetle from the album cover tattooed on her arm! Not even kidding!"

Curiosity

"Once the blood begins to flow on this disc, it can't be stanched until "Cry Out for Vecna" is over or... you are dead.

5 vicious stars *****"

garymon

"The scarab that came with this record was tasty."

Surrealmod

"Great stuff, loved Blessed be the Warlords."

Nightmare

"Just plain hardcore awesomeness."

BangerBen

"Delivering everything we had hoped for in a sophomre effort, Darkling is fast earning their rightful place in a world of sulphurous fumes. At a painfully short 6 tracks, this listener can only say "Please...come back an finish me off"! To quote Claudia...I want more!"

overground

"Always loved this genre."

jwolfenlinc

"My first foray into the Darkling library left me weeping inside. Blessed be the Warlords, indeed!"

huntrose

"These are some of the best songs I've ever heard! I'm totally in love."

Kukisuki

"'Darkling' was a refreshing mix of the old and new. 'Blood for Money' was a return to themes seen in previous songs, such as 'Bloody Kisses.' 'Cry Out for Vecna' was a rousing song, with memorable lyrics such as 'Wave your right hand in the air, like you just don't care,' and 'Give up the ghost and become a god, hell yeah.""

"This band rocks my face off!"

"Darkling may not have been at the top of their game when their self titled album (also known as the pitch black album) came out, but Higman is! Great, great, stuff! Next time put your notes on the album in the album description box instead of as a review because it will end up being pushed down to the bottom of the page and casual viewers won't be able to see it."

Eric

"After the success of their debut album "Traumatic Insemination", Darkling by Darkling was a huge disappointment. Fans were frustrated by the literal album cover, which was so dark record store clerks invariably couldn't find it. But the real problem was copyright violation in the lyrics of "Cry Out for Vecna." The courts ruled a line in the song "You've got his hand for me" was just too close to Jackson Browne's "You've got to hand it to me" from "Rosie" (Running on Empty)."
